ABOUT THE WELLBEING TICK
Why are we doing this?
We’re deeply concerned about what some employees are putting up with at work:
Toxic cultures, environments and relationships
Bullying, harassment, discrimination and below-the-line behaviour
Stigma around mental health and lack of wellbeing support
Incompetent and unempathetic leadership
Feeling under-valued and not recognised
Not enough encouragement or development opportunities
Unreasonable workloads, demands and hours leading to stress and burnout
To make matters worse, some of these employees feel trapped with no one to speak to and get support from.
This is unacceptable in today’s workplaces.
Workplaces literally have the power to save lives 🤍
Everyone deserves to work somewhere where their wellbeing is more important than work, always.
It’s treating humans as human beings.
Our Mission
We’re staunchly committed to working together with workplaces across the globe to help transform the alarming state of mental health and wellbeing.
We’re here to create provocation, disrupt old school thinking, transform toxic cultures and abolish unhealthy ways of working so we can eliminate the risks that work poses on our people’s wellbeing.
Imagine if all workplaces had the Wellbeing Tick and the ripple effect that would create on not only employee wellbeing but their broader family and community wellbeing too.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER—PHILLY POWELL
I am a self-confessed wellbeing junkie!
After an awakening in 2011, I started to realise the toxic load my carefree youth and unhealthy lifestyle had placed on my health and wellbeing. I dove deep into research to find out how I could become well again, which has led to an ongoing pursuit of feeling consistently awesome.
In 2015, I started to merge my passion with my profession by taking an amazing opportunity to design and lead the Wellbeing, Diversity and Inclusion Programmes at Chorus. Alongside my new obsession for workplace wellbeing, I became curious about the power of food as medicine in my healing journey. With such personal success, I knew I wanted to inspire others, so I studied to become a qualified Nutritionist. And by June 2019, I’d changed to a four-day week and launched The Wellbeing Junkie – a nutrition and wellbeing coaching business.
“Having a fulfilling career has been a fundamental part of enhancing my wellbeing and desired lifestyle. My professional experience spans over 17 years working in various People & Culture roles.”
After nearly six years at Chorus I started to consider how I could share my wellbeing passion and expertise with as many businesses as possible. Thanks to the incredible support from my mentor and biggest cheerleader, Sarah Laurie from Take a Breath, I decided to take a leap of faith and go all in on launching the world’s first Wellbeing Tick!
I take great pride in trying my best to walk the walk when it comes to looking after my own wellbeing. During the working week I’m very firm on setting healthy boundaries including exercise in the mornings, finishing on time, working in sprints of deep focussed work and away from the distractions of my phone. This helps me to work a 4-Day Week which I LOVE and encourage to try themselves! Outside of work, I’m a meditator, podcast binge listener, yogi, runner, amateur mountain biker, hiker, nature lover, snowboarder and real food enthusiast to name some of my healthy addictions.
